NETA has a variety of employer engagement mechanisms to ensure that employers are made aware of the range of services offered.
In addition an increased involvement with schools and colleges is being undertaken to raise awareness of the engineering construction industry among students and parent/guardians. Skill shortages are increasingly affecting the ability of engineering organisations to respond to customer and client requirements. Currently the average age for those employed in the engineering sector is over 50 and NETA is working with the industry to create more apprenticeship technician programmes and other learning opportunities to maximise the number of new entrants.
