You will receive comprehensive off the job training across a range of trade disciplines.
Training will be practical using industrial equipment, tools and machinery found in the workplace.
You will initially learn to set and operate manual machines e.g. lathes and milling machines to cut materials such as steel, brass, aluminium and plastics. Working from engineering drawings you will produce machined parts accurate to 0.01mm. Once competent on manual machines you will learn the skills required to programme and set Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines.

A skilled competent machinist is a valuable asset to a company, is paid well and can work anywhere in the world, working for small family businesses or multi-national companies. Machinists often move on to be Production Engineers, estimating, planning, progressing, inspecting work, developing production methods or designing tooling and jigs. Machinists can also move into sales or management positions often becoming Managing Director's of their own company.
