Fabrication

Fabricators work with metal such as steel and aluminium, cutting, shaping and forming it to exact specifications and assemble components and structures from engineering drawings.  Welding and flame cutting skills are also included.

   
What will be covered in the training?

You will receive comprehensive off the job training across a range of trade disciplines. Training will be practical using industrial equipment, tools and machinery found in the workplace.

Depending on the craft area you choose you will learn how to read drawings, measure and mark out shapes i.e. square, rectangular, circular and irregular, how to use hand tools and drills, how to weld and the equipment used and how to cut materials using oxy-fuel gas cutting equipment.

Key Skills:- Application of Number, Information Technology, Problem Solving, Communication, Improving own learning and working with others.

 

 

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

A skilled fabricator is a valuable asset to a company, is paid well and can work anywhere in the world, working for small family businesses or multi-national companies in the oil, petro-chemical or construction industries. Fabricators often become engineers or estimators, working in procurement sales or management.  Some even go on to own their own companies.
