The company has steadily grown from a small specialist-training provider with a single facility to one of the largest providers in the North of England with centres spread over four geographical sites within the Teesside area. In addition, many courses are now delivered at clients’ own premises either in the UK or abroad, and the majority of NETA’s programmes are customised, to reflect the specific requirements of the client.
Although much of the training delivered by NETA is customised, the company is accredited by a number of awarding bodies such as ECITB, City & Guilds, CITB, NASC, RTITB, and offers training geared to National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).
In the 33 years of its existence, NETA has gained considerable experience in developing and delivering well planned directed learning. The integration of working rigs and simulated site activity into the learning process maximises the effective use of resources and creates a realistic learning experience for individuals. A major strength has been the ability of the Centre to develop learning programmes, which meet specific client requirements, rather than limiting choice to standard course activity.
NETA has developed its range of services to a level that meets the needs of over 2500 companies per year and its current portfolio can offer candidates training in areas ranging from Health & Safety, ADR, Fork Lift Truck Driving and MEWP's to Electrical, Welding, Mechanical Engineering, Scaffolding, Gas, Instrumentation and Electronics.
However, regardless of the continuous growth in other areas, engineering remains as one of our core business areas.
NETA not only provides commercial courses to industry and commerce, but is also heavily involved in government initiatives such as Work Based Training for young people and Train to Gain.
NETA has extended and maintained practical training facilities whilst many have moved away from such resources. This commitment to vocational training resulted in its approval in 2001 as one of only 14 non further education colleges, to be approved as the first Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) for Engineering Construction.
In 2007 NETA was also the first independent training provider to achieve certification in the Training Quality Standard (TQS) with excellence in Engineering. Both of these initiatives were initiated by the Learning and Skills Council and focus on meeting employers' skills needs in priority areas.
TQS replaces CoVE and is a voluntary standard that has been designed to reflect employers’ priorities and expectations in sourcing training and the practices of the organisations proven to be the best at delivering them.
